New Master of Music in Performance

The School of Music, Art, and Theatre’s Music Department has refreshed its graduate programming, now offering one degree: the Master of Music in Performance. It has four specialized tracks:

  1. Vocal Arts Solo: Focused on training singers in solo singing and pedagogy with diverse solo repertoire.
  2. Vocal Arts Ensemble: Emphasizes training singers in choral singing and pedagogy, conducting, and teaching community choral ensembles with various choral repertoires.
  3. Keyboard Arts Vocal Coaching: Targets training pianists and vocal coaches in collaborative performance across diverse solo and chamber repertoire.
  4. Keyboard Arts Conducting: Concentrates on training pianists and organists to conduct from the keyboard in various genres and repertoires.

Students also have numerous opportunities to enhance their skills, including internships, applied ensemble participation, and assisting with Chamber Singers. Students can also participate in vocal pedagogy clinicals, teaching fellow students under faculty supervision. Additionally, the practicum teaches essential skills for collaborative work as a vocal coach or keyboard conductor.
